Blackie Sees Things Go According To Plan

19 February 2010

Three-time Inter Dominion champion Blacks A Fake led pretty much throughout to take out the second of the Watpac ID10 heats at Harold Park tonight.
The nine-year-old gave trainer-driver Natalie Rasmussen a running double, having taken out the opening heat with stablemate, Atomic Ark just 30 minutes earlier.
Starting a short $1.40 favourite on the NSW TAB, Blacks A Fake was untroubled to defeat Our Awesome Armbro and Smoken Up, who trailed the leader and sat outside ‘Blackie’ respectively.
“I’m tickled pink with his effort tonight,” Rasmussen said.
“To see him win like that was a great thrill.”
When quizzed as to which pacer she would commit to should they both qualify for the $1million Grand Final at Tabcorp Park Menangle on March 7, the answer was always going to be an obvious one.
“I think I’ll be sticking with ‘Blackie’,” Rasmussen, who has driven the pacer in all but one of his 80 starts, said.
Rasmussen’s win aboard the son of Fake Left also saw her create another slice of history in the Inter Dominion.
She is the first woman to win two heats of the Inter Dominion on the opening night of the series.
