Ark Causes Upset In Watpac Inter Dominion Heat One

19 February 2010

Natalie Rasmussen was expected to feature in the winners circle during the Watpac Inter Dominion heats tonight at Harold Park – to most punters though, it came 30 minutes earlier than expected!
Atomic Ark caused a boilover when he scored at the juicy price of $38.00 on the NSW TAB when taking out the opening heat of Watpac ID10.
Beginning brilliantly from gate four, Rasmussen chose to hand up to race favourite Changeover early on.
Gaining the trail on the New Zealander for the majority of the trip, Atomic Ark was given his shot at the top of the straight, when Karloo Mick began to tire after racing outside the leader.
Sprinting sharply, the seven-year-old was too good for Changeover in the run to the judge, with I Am Sam hugging the pegs all-the-way home to run third.
Defending Inter Dominion champion Mr Feelgood battled on well for fourth after sitting three-wide for the last 900 metres, with Karloo Mick holding onto fifth.
The quarters were run in 31.1, 30.4, 28.5 and 28.5, returning a mile rate of 1:58.5.
